In order to be eligible for the 70% option, your ebook price must be between $2.99 and $9.99. Anything priced over $10.00 pays out a 35% commission.

Payments are issued when you have a positive balance of $10/£10/€10 or more for EFT, or $100/£100/€100 or more for check payments. One turn off from a publisher point of view is that Kindle will pay sixty days following the end of the calendar month during which applicable sales occur.

So now you are ok with the payout structure and schedule, how do you begin? It is worth thinking about the type of ebook you want to write. Here are the most popular ebook genres, in descending order: thrillers and mystery, contemporary fiction, romance, science fiction and fantasy, biographies and memoirs, historical fiction/war, humour and classics.

Many people prefer to write their ebooks on Microsoft Word and then save the file in html or doc format. The only problem is that when you upload your file to Kindle, lots of junk formatting gets brought over. In order to format your file correctly, you should convert your file to .mobi using Calibre, which is a free and open source ebook management software.

When the titles are accepted, the authors can choose the 70% commission option even when the list price is below $2.99. Each submission must be sent via email to the Kindle editors.

Remember though, when you submit your content, you are not dealing with bots, you are dealing with experienced human editors.
